Letter from Mr.Ronald Fream and David Dale - Golfplan Company Letter No. 3:
Dated Tuesday, Oct.04th, 2005
Pangkor Laut is a one island, one resort, expensive, very nice high-end resort you could copy. It is accessible from Lumut, Malaysia and is a four-hour drive north from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Some rooms are on pillings over water, other cottages in the trees on the hillsides.
You could have such a resort on another island with cottages of three or four-star, gold on one or the other island. It could be sexy marketing to have one island, one golf course. No Other development. We bring the golfers by nice boat 10-15 minutes' ride from other islands, other resort sides. There is a "stewardess" on each boat to provide chilled towels, champagne, beer or whisky. Only a small clubhouse at the golf - no showers, no restaurants. Only a pro shop, nice snack and bar, lounge to await boat back to other hotel island.
We could need 100-200ha island to pull off this one island, one golf course idea. Special land, views. This concept does not exist in the world today. you could have five-star guests on one island, three and four-star guests on the other; no day trippers, must stay to play.
Think Pangkor Laut, Amanpuri-phuket, Oberoi Hotel Bali as comparables for luxury. A great spa goes at the resort or perharps the spa facilities also are only at the golf club/spa. One island, one spa? Only motor boat to these...
Maldives have several water village cottages on still pilling offshore. The units at Pangor Laut over water are very nice . I only stayed in hillside cottages - very nice nonetheless and two days wasn't enough! Bora Bora has Aman water village hotel.
